KakaoBrain — Meeting-space acoustics, refined by PET linear baffles
A project applying recycled-PET linear baffles to the ceiling of KakaoBrain in Bundang, Gyeonggi — cutting reverberation in meeting and call spaces so people can focus on conversation and immersion.

KakaoBrain is the core AI research and development company within the Kakao group. With critical meetings and conference calls taking place continuously throughout the day, the space required an acoustic environment where speech is reproduced clearly and participants can stay fully focused on their calls.
When a ceiling is hard and the surface finish is smooth, sound reflects and reverberation lengthens. Prolonged reverberation causes voices to overlap during meetings and degrades call audio quality, undermining communication efficiency across the board. KakaoBrain selected Tornex PET linear baffles to bring that reverberation under control.
PET linear baffles hang at regular intervals from the ceiling, designed to absorb sound before it can reflect off the ceiling surface. Made from recycled PET plastic, they are environmentally responsible; their soft, uncoated color tones also enhance the visual character of the space.
The color system has cleared more than 46 domestic flame-retardant certifications, meeting the stringent finish requirements of research and office facilities without compromise.
Linear baffles are lightweight yet dimensionally stable. We installed them using Tornex-developed proprietary hardware so they remain straight without warping or sagging, and are unaffected by vibration from HVAC equipment. The baffles arranged in regular rows, with cove lighting filtering through the gaps between them, add a sense of calm order to the ceiling while delivering acoustic performance.
With Tornex PET linear baffles in place, reverberation in the meeting spaces dropped noticeably and noise settled. Meeting room users benefit from an environment where voices are never buried, and call-based work gains cleaner audio quality — raising the overall efficiency of communication.
